Christmas Arts and Crafts Festival 2010
From Tuesday 14th December till Saturday 18th December 2010, this week sees our first Christmas Arts and Crafts Festival here at Equator Arts Cafe.
This programme of Christmas events is the beginning of a new way to use your local coffee shop. At Equator Arts Café we want to offer you more than a specially made sandwich and your favourite home made cake washed down with a locally roasted frothy coffee (although that is very nice).
Working with local artists, students, university staff and local businesses we bring you a range of workshops, events, exhibitions and stalls to see in the festive season and continue through the new year. Learn a skill, share your talents, support local businesses and get merry.
Craft Fair
As part of our Christmas Arts and Craft Festival we will be holding a Craft Fair on Tuesday 14th December 12-5pm, Thursday 16th December 12-5pm and Saturday 18th December 11-4pm
There will be a range of stalls from artists and hand-makers including Paper-Craft, Jewellery, Bags, Hand knitted gifts, Photography and other hand crafted goods. The perfect way to get those stockings filled with a personal touch.
Entry is free and Stalls vary from day to day as we have taken time to select a high quality range of goods and prices to suit all.
Mulled Wine and Winter Music
On Tuesday 14th December and Thursday 16th December there will be Mulled Wine and Live Winter Music Evenings. From 8pm to 10pm, Entry is £5 and this includes mulled wine and mince pie!
Come and join us and get in the festive spirit. A great alternative to the pub for your Christmas get together with great food, acoustic sets from local talent including Bill Orrick, Seamus McLoughlin and Rae Morris, and above all the important mulled wine.
Christmas Craft Workshops
Tuesday 14th December - Christmas Craft Print Workshop 6-8pm
£15 (includes tea/coffee and mince pie) run by Susie Knowles.
A fun workshop to learn and try basic print making. Explore your inner artist and learn simple, yet effective print techniques to make and take home festive cards, wrap and gift tags for your family and friends.
Thursday 16th December - Wreath Making with The Secret Garden 6-8pm
£20(includes tea/coffee and mince pie) - SOLD OUT
Teaming up with local businesses, we are proud to host a workshop from our favourite florists. Make your own wreath to hang proudly on your door this Christmas.
Saturday 18th December - Children’s Festive Craft Workshop 10.30- 12pm
£5 (includes a light lunch after) run by Susie Knowles
A fun and festive workshop for ages 6+. Make a googly eyes Rudolf reindeer or try printing your own Christmas cards.
Saturday 18th December - Yarn Tree Decorations and Gift Workshop 2.30-4.30pm
£12 (includes tea/coffee and mince pie)
Local Hand-makers Adele and Wensdi teach you how simple knitting and crochet techniques can create beautiful decorations and gifts. This workshop is suitable for beginners but all levels are welcome to join in the creativity.
